Mulline Barrabool Pinot Noir

$62.00

There are aromas of wild strawberry, orange peel, dried rose and earth. The palate is supple and rounded, with gentle tannins and a flowing line of acidity that gives the wine ease and grace. Flavours of redcurrant, autumn spice and undergrowth unfold with time, finishing with a savoury lift and stony persistence. The fruit comes from the Barwon Ridge Vineyard in Barrabool, nestled in the Barrabool Hills west of Geelong. Planted in 1999 to the MV6 clone of Pinot Noir, the site sits on deep black loam over limestone, bringing both generosity and underlying structure. The wine includes 25% whole bunch and was matured in French oak for eight months, all second use, to let the site speak clearly. It sits at 12.0% alcohol.

97 points! Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion
A single-vineyard wine from a vineyard in the Barrabool Hills planted in '00 and north facing on limestone; 100% MV6; 25% whole bunches. A very bright crimson. Very pure fruited with its aromas of ripe strawberries and raspberries together with floral notes and a gentle spice. Gently textured, briary and long on the palate. The tannins are compact and fine and, as good as this is now, this is another '24 Mulline pinot headed for a long and distinguished life.
