Current owner David Kilpatrick planted the vines on the Clarence House Estate in 1998, in the foothills of the Meehan Ranges halfway between Hobart and Coal River Valley. The fruit is harvested and then taken to Pooley, where the Pooley team takes care of the winemaking. Pinot Noir makes up the majority of the crop, but they have six other varieties planted, including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Tempranillo, Merlot, and Cabernet.
