Yeringberg Cabernets
98 points. Stuart Knox, The Real Review.
Medium to full ruby red colour. Blackberry, black olive and dried bayleaf on the nose. A wonderfully complex and harmonious palate with dark fruits, wood spices and a dried leaf note all wrapped in finely honed gravelly tannins. The palate is medium weight but with a sense of restrained tension, carrying to a prodigious length and allowing the finish to be a joyous fan of classic cabernet characters.

Yeringberg is one of Australia’s quiet treasures, a historic Yarra Valley estate where everything begins and ends with the land, the family, and the vines. Now led by fourth-generation siblings Sandra and David de Pury, Yeringberg is the very definition of a true vigneron estate: they grow all their own grapes, make the wine on-site, and bottle it on the farm. Sandra oversees the winemaking, David tends the vineyard and manages the broader farm, including the sheep and cattle whose meat is sold alongside the wines. It’s a full-circle, working farm where heritage and humility are baked into daily life. There’s no flash at Yeringberg. Just quiet confidence, and a long history of letting the wines speak for themselves. These are some of the most elegant, genuine expressions of terroir in the country — unforced, unadorned, and deeply faithful to the land they come from.
