Half the fruit was fermented in old French barriques and the other half in stainless steel. Despite the time in oak, there is very little oak influence; a focused and bright wine that is fruit-driven with flavours of lemon and lime, peach, and some flinty, struck match.

Kumeu River has been praised for being some of the best producers of Chardonnay outside Burgundy! And at a fraction of the price. Doesn't that sound enticing? Based in the north island of New Zealand, 25 kilometres northwest of Auckland. Owned and operated by the Brajkovich family, who immigrated from Croatia in 1937 and established their vineyard not long after. The focus is primarily on Chardonnay, producing many different single vineyard releases each year, as well as their 'Village' range, which is their entry-level. They also produce a small amount of Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
