Standish 'The Standish'
'The Standish' Shiraz was Dan Standish's first release in 1999. It is made with fruit from his home vineyard, Laycock, in Greenock, Barossa Valley. The wine is usually known to be earthy and savoury with firm tannins. While this wine is dense and powerful, it also displays a beautiful array of exotic spice, dark red and purple fruit, and minerality. It will age beautifully.
"Coffee bean, black fruit, a little mint, some salt beef in the mix, and creamy oak. It's full-bodied, a bit more nippy in acidity with grainy chew to tannin, not quite the balance and flow of the other wines, more rugged and warm feeling, though there's no shortage of impact. A saline character, and kind of drying on the finish, but still, a lot of wine, and overall very good" Gary Walsh, The Wine Front"
