After completing high school, Alex Sherrah completed a degree in Organic Chemistry. Unbeknownst to him, this degree would later be invaluable as he embarked on his career in winemaking. He began working as a cellar hand in McLaren Vale, where he discovered his passion for the industry. This led him to pursue a degree in Wine Science, during which he gained as much experience as possible. He then went on to work at Knappstein and O'Leary Walker in the Clare Valley followed by a long stint as head winemaker at Coriole, McLaren Vale. Eventually, he established his own label, 'Sharrah.' Alex's primary focus is to create wines with balance, which requires high-quality, expertly farmed fruit that is handled with care and consideration in the winery.
