Gary Farr started his career at Yellowglen but made his name for himself at the iconic local vineyard Bannockburn Vineyards, working under Stuart Hooper, the owner, founder and mentor to Gary.
The Farr vineyard and winery was started when Gary Farr purchased a small portion of Bannockburn Vineyard's land off Stuart Hooper to build a house for his family and plant his own small vineyard. After acquiring more land he eventually left Bannockburn to focus on his own brand and vineyard. Now his son Nick Farr is head winemaker, and the wines have gone from strength to strength over the years, gaining recognition as one of the most important brands in Victoria.
