Wantirna Estate 'Isabella' Chardonnay
"Nectarine, ripe lemon, fennel, oatmeal with cinnamon, light cedar/vanilla oak. It’s a tighter expression of this wine, quite savoury too, nutty and saline, with a grainy texture, juicy grapefruit acidity, just ripe peach, lime, and some lemon zest on a finish of excellent length. I’d give it a year or two to settle in, but gee, it’s a good and lively release of this wine." - The Wine Front, Gary Walsh 95 Points

Wantirna Estate is located not far from the outer suburbs of Melbourne, near Glen Waverly; Reg and Bertina are the original and current custodians of the estate, which has been in operation since 1963. Reg and Bertina planted the vineyard as a passion project; Reg was a lawyer with a keen interest in wine and farming; for many, he juggled the two, working by day in the city as a lawyer and managing the vineyard and winery in his spare time. Eventually, he turned his full attention to Wantirna Estate and grew the business into what it is today. His daughter Maryann is now the head winemaker, with Reg and Bertina lending a hand when needed. They are known for producing iconic cool-climate Yarra Valley Chardonnay named 'Isobel', Pinot Noir named 'Lily' and Cabernet Sauvignon named 'Amelia'.
