Quinta Do Noval Tawny
Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, and Tinta Barroca are the main varieties of this Tawny Port, mostly coming from Noval's vineyards and the rest from their growers. The wine is aged for three years plus in large oak vats before final blending and bottling. Bright cherry, orange rind, and aniseed aromas lift from the glass, and the palate is filled with sweet, rich fruit with plenty of acidity cutting through the centre.

Quinta do Noval has been in production since 1715. Over the 300-odd years, production has remained relatively small in order to maintain complete control over the entire winemaking process. Most of the fruit they use grow themselves, rather than purchasing (like many of the large houses in the region). They then can take steps to improve the fruit quality in the vineyard. Most of their prized vineyards sit at very high altitude and high density over shist rock; the hardy vines are low-yielding with exceptional fruit quality.
