Elanto Pinot Noir

"There’s a lot going on with this Pinot Noir but it manages to feel effortless. Seamless is the word; finished is another. Campari-like herbs, roasted nuts, earth, undergrowth and sweet black cherries, the latter deep-set in Pinot Noir terms. There’s an excellent framework of tannin, firm and velvety at once, dry strings splayed out across a mesh made of hazelnuts. This wine became more expansive as it rested in the glass. This is the first Pinot Noir grown and made from this vineyard. It’s an exciting debut, with an even more exciting future." The Wine Front, Campbell Mattinson 95pts

The project is a collaboration between experienced vigneron Sandro Mosele, experienced vigneron and Tony and Elaine Todaro, the business masterminds. The project is an opportunity for Sandro Mosele to put everything he's learnt across his career in the wine industry. With Elaine and Tony's fierce backing, they are all able to take a no-expense-spared and no-stone-unturned approach, making it one of the most exciting and ambitious new labels we've tasted recently.
They started with a 22-hectare site in Balnarring, Mornington Peninsula, overlooking the Western Port Bay and Philip Island; starting from scratch, they planted 10.6 hectares of close-planted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Making it one of the largest close-planted vineyards in the country. The team have also opted for largely organic vineyard management and a relatively 'hands-on' farming approach while still utilising all the best modern bells and whistles.
