This wine is warming and generous, with beautiful layers of flavour and ripe tannins. It has dark fruit like blackberry and boysenberry, bitter dried herbs and violets, and a nice meatiness. The fruit comes from the Brown Magpie vineyard in Modewarre within the Surf Coast sub-region of Geelong. 50% of the fruit is left as whole bunches for fermentation, the whole bunch character has been integrated into the wine seamlessly.
eThis is an excellent cool climate Shiraz. It presents a body of washy, spicy, fruit-ripe flavour before then spreading out and running impressively through the finish. Mulline sure is in hot form. Musk, red and black cherries, strawberries and boysenberries. Indeed, basically, there are lots of berried notes here, at various stages of freshness, sweetness, ripeness and pippy-ness. The musk-like notes add a soft veneer, but the energy of the wine is not hindered. The aftertaste throws nut shells into the fray, which in turn adds a sternness. Soft, loud, stern, soft; that's the by-play here. It's a two-hander, you might say. The net effect is that it's very good.' – Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front 94 Points
