Ciro is the most famous region within Calabria in Italy's south, and the most common variety here is Gagglioppo. Gagglioppo is one of the oldest varieties in Italy and has been found to be a natural crossing of Sangiovese and Montonico. Scala is a family-run, organically farmed operation that is introducing Gagglioppo to the world stage.

Tasting Note

Light in colour with an orange hue, it lifts from the glass with aromas of berry fruit like pomegranate, cherry, and dried bitter herbs. It has a light to medium body, and there's some earthiness on the palate, orange peel, and a hint of cola on the finish with drying tannins.
