Mulline Vintners is a collaboration between Ben Mullen, a qualified viticulturist and winemaker, and Ben Hine, a lawyer and the business mind behind the project. Together, the two Bens set out to produce high-quality wines made with fruit grown throughout the surrounding Geelong region, Moorabool Valley, Surf Coast, and Bellarine Peninsula. They purchase fruit from like-minded growers and have their own home vineyard and winery in Portarlington. A breath of fresh air for the Geelong region, Mulline is a young, passionate, forward-thinking collaboration injecting new life and energy into the Geelong wine scene and collecting a lot of critical praise along the way.

Tasting Note

Barrell fermented on full solids and matured in 20% new oak. There is a lot of savouriness in this wine with chalk, minerality and a saline, sea spray character. Some rich stone fruits like peach and nectarine bring some freshness and sweetness. Made with fruit from the Nurringa Park vineyard in Portarlington on the Bellarine Peninsula.

‘This wine is still finding its feet but for length, poise and all-round complexity it has it going on. Hazelnut, grapefruit, seaspray, vanilla custard and grilled peach characters move towards preserved citrus and seaweed. It’s complex, it’s engaging and it’s persistent. It’s also in need of time.’ – Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front 94 Points
